Disability Awareness Sessions – Cup of Coffee & cake

Enable (Sussex Police Disability and Carers Association) have joined forces with Unison and the Police Federation in planning some FREE tea and coffee drop in sessions for November and December to tie in with Disability History Month which runs from 22nd November – 22nd December 2017.

We want to raise awareness of issues surrounding disabled staff and officers by offering some informal opportunities for you to pop in, share your thoughts or even get things ‘off your chest’.  There is no need to book, no formality involved, just pop in and meet us, chat about relevant topics OR just say hello, enjoy a free cuppa, and dip out when you have had enough.

The dates and venues for the events are as follows:

·         Wednesday 29th November 2017 – 11.30-13.30 – Hammonds Drive Conference Room, Ground Floor, Building 4, Eastbourne

·         Tuesday 5th December 2017 – 11.30-13.30 – HQ Conference Room, Ground Floor, Amberley Block, Police HQ, Church Lane, Lewes, BN7 2DZ

·         Thursday 14thDecember 2017 – 11.30-13.30 – Crawley Conference Room, 3rd Floor

·         Tuesday 19th December 2017 - 11.30-13.30 - Training Room 2, Centenary House, Durrington, BN13 2PQ

The aims of the events are:

·       Promote disability issues

·       Promote carers responsibilities and issues

·       Reduce the stigma associated with disabilities

·       Eliminate negative attitudes and prejudice from employers, colleagues and service users

·       Develop an understanding of reasonable adjustments to support anyone with a disability

It would be great if you could pop along even if you only have 5 minutes to spare.
